Psalm 12
ESV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNew Living Translation
1Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.1Help, O LORD, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth!
2Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.2Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts.
3May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts,3May the LORD cut off their flattering lips and silence their boastful tongues.
4those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”4They say, “We will lie to our hearts’ content. Our lips are our own—who can stop us?”
5“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”5The LORD replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.”
6The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.6The LORD’s promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over.
7You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.7Therefore, LORD, we know you will protect the oppressed, preserving them forever from this lying generation,
8On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.8even though the wicked strut about, and evil is praised throughout the land.
