Job 27
ESV Parallel NET [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
English Standard VersionNET Bible
And Job again took up his discourse, and said:1And Job took up his discourse again:
“As God lives, who has taken away my right, and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,2"As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice, the Almighty, who has made my life bitter--
as long as my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils,3for while my spirit is still in me, and the breath from God is in my nostrils,
my lips will not speak falsehood, and my tongue will not utter deceit.4my lips will not speak wickedness, and my tongue will whisper no deceit.
Far be it from me to say that you are right; till I die I will not put away my integrity from me.5I will never declare that you three are in the right; until I die, I will not set aside my integrity!
I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.6I will maintain my righteousness and never let it go; my conscience will not reproach me for as long as I live.
“Let my enemy be as the wicked, and let him who rises up against me be as the unrighteous.7"May my enemy be like the wicked, my adversary like the unrighteous.
For what is the hope of the godless when God cuts him off, when God takes away his life?8For what hope does the godless have when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?
Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?9Does God listen to his cry when distress overtakes him?
Will he take delight in the Almighty? Will he call upon God at all times?10Will he find delight in the Almighty? Will he call out to God at all times?
I will teach you concerning the hand of God; what is with the Almighty I will not conceal.11I will teach you about the power of God; What is on the Almighty's mind I will not conceal.
Behold, all of you have seen it yourselves; why then have you become altogether vain?12If you yourselves have all seen this, Why in the world do you continue this meaningless talk?
“This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage that oppressors receive from the Almighty:13This is the portion of the wicked man allotted by God, the inheritance that evildoers receive from the Almighty.
If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword, and his descendants have not enough bread.14If his children increase--it is for the sword! His offspring never have enough to eat.
Those who survive him the pestilence buries, and his widows do not weep.15Those who survive him are buried by the plague, and their widows do not mourn for them.
Though he heap up silver like dust, and pile up clothing like clay,16If he piles up silver like dust and stores up clothing like mounds of clay,
he may pile it up, but the righteous will wear it, and the innocent will divide the silver.17what he stores up a righteous man will wear, and an innocent man will inherit his silver.
He builds his house like a moth’s, like a booth that a watchman makes.18The house he builds is as fragile as a moth's cocoon, like a hut that a watchman has made.
He goes to bed rich, but will do so no more; he opens his eyes, and his wealth is gone.19He goes to bed wealthy, but will do so no more. When he opens his eyes, it is all gone.
Terrors overtake him like a flood; in the night a whirlwind carries him off.20Terrors overwhelm him like a flood; at night a whirlwind carries him off.
The east wind lifts him up and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.21The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.
It hurls at him without pity; he flees from its power in headlong flight.22It hurls itself against him without pity as he flees headlong from its power.
It claps its hands at him and hisses at him from its place.23It claps its hands at him in derision and hisses him away from his place.
