Psalm 12
CSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
1Help, LORD, for no faithful one remains; the loyal have disappeared from the human race.1Save, O LORD, for the godly one is gone; for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.
2They lie to one another; they speak with flattering lips and deceptive hearts.2Everyone utters lies to his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
3May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks boastfully.3May the LORD cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that makes great boasts,
4They say, "Through our tongues we have power; our lips are our own--who can be our master?"4those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail, our lips are with us; who is master over us?”
5"Because of the devastation of the needy and the groaning of the poor, I will now rise up," says the LORD. "I will provide safety for the one who longs for it."5“Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the LORD; “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
6The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times.6The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.
7You, LORD, will guard us; you will protect us from this generation forever.7You, O LORD, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever.
8The wicked prowl all around, and what is worthless is exalted by the human race.8On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of man.
