Berean Study BibleInternational Standard Version
As God’s fellow workers, then, we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.1Since, then, we are working with God, we plead with you not to accept God's grace in vain.
For He says: “In the time of favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; now is the day of salvation!2For he says, "At the right time I heard you, and on a day of salvation I helped you." Listen, now is really the "right time"! Now is the "day of salvation"!
We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no one can discredit our ministry.3We do not put an obstacle in anyone's way. Otherwise, fault may be found with our ministry.
Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships, and calamities;4Instead, in every way we demonstrate that we are God's servants by tremendous endurance in the midst of difficulties, hardships, and calamities;
in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in labor, sleepless nights, and hunger;5in beatings, imprisonments, and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights, and hunger;
in purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love;6with purity, knowledge, patience, and kindness; with the Holy Spirit, genuine love,
in truthful speech and in the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;7truthful speech, and divine power; through the weapons of righteousness in the right and left hands;
through glory and dishonor, slander and praise; viewed as imposters, yet genuine;8through honor and dishonor; through ill repute and good repute; perceived as deceivers and yet true,
as unknown, yet well-known; dying, and yet we live on; punished, yet not killed;9as unknown and yet well-known, as dying and yet—as you see—very much alive, as punished and yet not killed,
sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.10as sorrowful and yet always rejoicing, as poor and yet enriching many, as having nothing and yet possessing everything.
We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians. Our hearts are open wide.11We have spoken frankly to you, Corinthians. Our hearts are wide open.
It is not our affection, but yours, that is restrained.12We have not cut you off, but you have cut off your own feelings toward us.
As a fair exchange, I ask you as my children: Open wide your hearts also.13Do us a favor—I ask you as my children—and open wide your hearts.
Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?14Stop becoming unevenly yoked with unbelievers. What partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? What fellowship can light have with darkness?
What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?15What harmony exists between the Messiah and Beliar, or what do a believer and an unbeliever have in common?
What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”16What agreement can a temple of God make with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said: "I will live and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people."
“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”17Therefore, "Get away from them and separate yourselves from them," declares the Lord, "and don't touch anything unclean. Then I will welcome you.
And: “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”18I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters," declares the Lord Almighty.
