| 2And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have been stricken with grief and have removed from your fellowship the man who did this? | 2And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you. |
| 3Although I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit, and I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did this, just as if I were present. | 3For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. |

| 11But now I am writing you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a verbal abuser, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. | 11But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. |
| 12What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? | 12For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? |
| 13God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.” | 13God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.” |
