Children of God

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.1See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.1See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.1Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.1Look at how great a love the Father has given us that we should be called God's children. And we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it didn't know Him.
2Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.2Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.2Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.2Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.2Dear friends, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is.
3All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.3And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.3And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.3And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself just as He is pure.
4Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.4Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.4Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.4Everyone who commits sin also breaks the law; sin is the breaking of law.

5But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin.5You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.5You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.5You know that He was revealed so that He might take away sins, and there is no sin in Him.
6No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.6No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him.6No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.6Everyone who remains in Him does not sin; everyone who sins has not seen Him or known Him.
7Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.7Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous.7Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.7Little children, let no one deceive you! The one who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous.
8The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.8Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.8the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.8The one who commits sin is of the Devil, for the Devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the Devil's works.
9No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.9No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.9No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.9Everyone who has been born of God does not sin, because His seed remains in him; he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God.
10This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.10By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.10By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.10This is how God's children--and the Devil's children--are made evident. Whoever does not do what is right is not of God, especially the one who does not love his brother.

Love One Another

(John 13:31-35; Romans 12:9-13)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
11For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.11For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.11For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;11For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.11For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another,
12Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous.12We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous.12not as Cain, who was of the evil one and slew his brother. And for what reason did he slay him? Because his deeds were evil, and his brother's were righteous.12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.12unlike Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil, and his brother's were righteous.
13Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.13Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.13Do not be surprised, brethren, if the world hates you.13Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.13Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
14We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death.14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love abides in death.14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.14We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
15Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer; and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
16This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.16By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.16We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.16This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.
17If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?17But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?17But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?17If anyone has this world's goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need--how can God's love reside in him?
18Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.18Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.18Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.18Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.
19This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence:19By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him;19We will know by this that we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before Him19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.19This is how we will know we belong to the truth and will convince our conscience in His presence,
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
20If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.20for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.20in whatever our heart condemns us; for God is greater than our heart and knows all things.20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.20even if our conscience condemns us, that God is greater than our conscience, and He knows all things.
21Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God21Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;21Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.21Dear friends, if our conscience doesn't condemn us, we have confidence before God
22and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.22and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.22and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.22and can receive whatever we ask from Him because we keep His commands and do what is pleasing in His sight.
23And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.23And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.23This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.23Now this is His command: that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another as He commanded us.
24The one who keeps God's commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.24Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.24The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.24The one who keeps His commands remains in Him, and He in him. And the way we know that He remains in us is from the Spirit He has given us.
