Matthew 28
Literal Emphasis Translation Par ▾
1And after (late on) the Sabbath, it being dawn (to let shine upon) unto the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the tomb. 2And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord having descended from out of heaven, and having come, rolled away the stone, and was sitting on top of it. 3And his appearance was like an lightning and the his apparel white like as snow. 4And from fear of him, those keeping guard shook and became like as dead men. 5And answering, the angel said to the women, Fear not you; for I know that you seek Jesus, the One having been crucified. 6He is not here, for He is risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. 7And go quickly and say to His disciples that He is risen away from the dead; and behold, He goes before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.

8And going away quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to announce (report) it to His disciples, 9And as they were going to announce it to His disciples, and behold, Jesus met them, saying, Greetings! (Hail!, Be glad!, Rejoice!) and having come to Him, they took hold of His feet and worshipped Him. 10Then Jesus says to them, Do not fear. Go, announce to My brothers so that they go away into Galilee, and there they will see Me.

11And as they were going, Behold, some of the guard, having gone into the city, reported (announced) to the chief priests all the things that had happened. 12And having been gathered together with the elders, and having taken consultation, they gave a considerable (sufficient, fitting) amount of silver pieces to the soldiers, 13Saying, Say that His disciples having come by night, secretly stole Him, while we slept. 14And if this is heard by (upon) the governor, we will persuade him and keep you free from concern (anxiety). 15And having taken the money, they did as they were taught. And this word is spread throughout by the Jews until the present day.

16And the eleven disciples went into Galilee unto the mountain where Jesus appointed (designated, arranged) them. 17And having seen Him, they worshipped; however some doubted (wavered, double-standing). 18And having come to them, Jesus spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and upon the earth. 19Go therefore, disciple all the ethnicities (nations), baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit; 20Teaching them to observe (watch over, guard, keep) all things whatever I commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days until the culmination (consummate coming together of all into the whole) of the age.
