Vision of Four Cherubim 4I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north--an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, | 4As I looked, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, and a great cloud, with brightness around it, and fire flashing forth continually, and in the midst of the fire, as it were gleaming metal. | 4As I looked, behold, a storm wind was coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing forth continually and a bright light around it, and in its midst something like glowing metal in the midst of the fire. | 4And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. | 4I looked and there was a whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire, there was a gleam like amber. |
and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was human, | 5And from the midst of it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had a human likeness, | 5Within it there were figures resembling four living beings. And this was their appearance: they had human form. | 5Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. | 5The form of four living creatures came from it. And this was their appearance: They had human form, |
but each of them had four faces and four wings. | 6but each had four faces, and each of them had four wings. | 6Each of them had four faces and four wings. | 6And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. | 6but each of them had four faces and four wings. |
Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. | 7Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the sole of a calf’s foot. And they sparkled like burnished bronze. | 7Their legs were straight and their feet were like a calf's hoof, and they gleamed like burnished bronze. | 7And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. | 7Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, sparkling like the gleam of polished bronze. |
Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four of them had faces and wings, | 8Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. And the four had their faces and their wings thus: | 8Under their wings on their four sides were human hands. As for the faces and wings of the four of them, | 8And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. | 8They had human hands under their wings on their four sides. All four of them had faces and wings. |
and the wings of one touched the wings of another. Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved. | 9their wings touched one another. Each one of them went straight forward, without turning as they went. | 9their wings touched one another; their faces did not turn when they moved, each went straight forward. | 9Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. | 9Their wings were touching. The creatures did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead. |
Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a human being, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle. | 10As for the likeness of their faces, each had a human face. The four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle. | 10As for the form of their faces, each had the face of a man; all four had the face of a lion on the right and the face of a bull on the left, and all four had the face of an eagle. | 10As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. | 10The form of each of their faces was that of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right, the face of an ox on the left, and the face of an eagle. |
Such were their faces. They each had two wings spreading out upward, each wing touching that of the creature on either side; and each had two other wings covering its body. | 11Such were their faces. And their wings were spread out above. Each creature had two wings, each of which touched the wing of another, while two covered their bodies. | 11Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above; each had two touching another being, and two covering their bodies. | 11Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. | 11That is what their faces were like. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching that of another and two wings covering its body. |
Each one went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they went. | 12And each went straight forward. Wherever the spirit would go, they went, without turning as they went. | 12And each went straight forward; wherever the spirit was about to go, they would go, without turning as they went. | 12And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. | 12Each creature went straight ahead. Wherever the Spirit wanted to go, they went without turning as they moved. |
The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches. Fire moved back and forth among the creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it. | 13As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches moving to and fro among the living creatures. And the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. | 13In the midst of the living beings there was something that looked like burning coals of fire, like torches darting back and forth among the living beings. The fire was bright, and lightning was flashing from the fire. | 13As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. | 13The form of the living creatures was like the appearance of burning coals of fire and torches. Fire was moving back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, with lightning coming out of it. |
The creatures sped back and forth like flashes of lightning. | 14And the living creatures darted to and fro, like the appearance of a flash of lightning. | 14And the living beings ran to and fro like bolts of lightning. | 14And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning. | 14The creatures were darting back and forth like flashes of lightning. |
Vision of the Four Wheels 15As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces. | 15Now as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, one for each of the four of them. | 15Now as I looked at the living beings, behold, there was one wheel on the earth beside the living beings, for each of the four of them. | 15Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. | 15When I looked at the living creatures, there was one wheel on the ground beside each creature that had four faces. |
This was the appearance and structure of the wheels: They sparkled like topaz, and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel. | 16As for the appearance of the wheels and their construction: their appearance was like the gleaming of beryl. And the four had the same likeness, their appearance and construction being as it were a wheel within a wheel. | 16The appearance of the wheels and their workmanship was like sparkling beryl, and all four of them had the same form, their appearance and workmanship being as if one wheel were within another. | 16The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. | 16The appearance of the wheels and their craftsmanship was like the gleam of beryl, and all four had the same form. Their appearance and craftsmanship was like a wheel within a wheel. |
As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the creatures faced; the wheels did not change direction as the creatures went. | 17When they went, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went. | 17Whenever they moved, they moved in any of their four directions without turning as they moved. | 17When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went. | 17When they moved, they went in any of the four directions, without pivoting as they moved. |
Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around. | 18And their rims were tall and awesome, and the rims of all four were full of eyes all around. | 18As for their rims they were lofty and awesome, and the rims of all four of them were full of eyes round about. | 18As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four. | 18Their rims were large and frightening. Each of their four rims were full of eyes all around. |
When the living creatures moved, the wheels beside them moved; and when the living creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose. | 19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose. | 19Whenever the living beings moved, the wheels moved with them. And whenever the living beings rose from the earth, the wheels rose also. | 19And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. | 19So when the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels also rose. |
Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise along with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. | 20Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, and the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. | 20Wherever the spirit was about to go, they would go in that direction. And the wheels rose close beside them; for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels. | 20Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. | 20Wherever the Spirit wanted to go, the creatures went in the direction the Spirit was moving. The wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. |
When the creatures moved, they also moved; when the creatures stood still, they also stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose along with them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. | 21When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those rose from the earth, the wheels rose along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. | 21Whenever those went, these went; and whenever those stood still, these stood still. And whenever those rose from the earth, the wheels rose close beside them; for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels. | 21When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. | 21When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the earth, the wheels rose alongside them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels. |
Vision of the Divine Glory 22Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked something like a vault, sparkling like crystal, and awesome. | 22Over the heads of the living creatures there was the likeness of an expanse, shining like awe-inspiring crystal, spread out above their heads. | 22Now over the heads of the living beings there was something like an expanse, like the awesome gleam of crystal, spread out over their heads. | 22And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. | 22The shape of an expanse, with a gleam like awe-inspiring crystal, was spread out over the heads of the living creatures. |
Under the vault their wings were stretched out one toward the other, and each had two wings covering its body. | 23And under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward another. And each creature had two wings covering its body. | 23Under the expanse their wings were stretched out straight, one toward the other; each one also had two wings covering its body on the one side and on the other. | 23And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies. | 23And under the expanse their wings extended one toward another. Each of them also had two wings covering their bodies. |
When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings. | 24And when they went, I heard the sound of their wings like the sound of many waters, like the sound of the Almighty, a sound of tumult like the sound of an army. When they stood still, they let down their wings. | 24I also heard the sound of their wings like the sound of abundant waters as they went, like the voice of the Almighty, a sound of tumult like the sound of an army camp; whenever they stood still, they dropped their wings. | 24And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings. | 24When they moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of mighty waters, like the voice of the Almighty, and a sound of commotion like the noise of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings. |
Then there came a voice from above the vault over their heads as they stood with lowered wings. | 25And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads. When they stood still, they let down their wings. | 25And there came a voice from above the expanse that was over their heads; whenever they stood still, they dropped their wings. | 25And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. | 25A voice came from above the expanse over their heads; when they stood still, they lowered their wings. |
Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne of lapis lazuli, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. | 26And above the expanse over their heads there was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like sapphire; and seated above the likeness of a throne was a likeness with a human appearance. | 26Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man. | 26And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. | 26The shape of a throne with the appearance of sapphire stone was above the expanse. There was a form with the appearance of a human on the throne high above. |
I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. | 27And upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him. | 27Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him. | 27And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. | 27From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire enclosing it all around. From what seemed to be His waist down, I also saw what looked like fire. There was a brilliant light all around Him. |
Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking. | 28Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking. | 28As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking. | 28As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake. | 28The appearance of the brilliant light all around was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the form of the LORD's glory. When I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking. |
