1If it had not been the LORD Who was on our side, let Israel say, 2“If it had not been the LORD Who was on our side, when men attacked us; 3They would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath rose against us; 4Then the waters had engulfed us, the torrent had swept over us; 5Those raging waters would have drowned us.” 6Blessed be the LORD, Who has not left us to be torn by their cruel teeth. 7Our soul has escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the trap is broken, and we have indeed escaped. 8Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
