Psalm 112

The Blessed Fear of Yahweh
(Psalm 128:1–6)

הַ֥לְלוּ (Hallelu) יָ֨הּ׀ (YAH)!

אַשְׁרֵי־ (Blessed is) אִ֭ישׁ (the man) יָרֵ֣א (fearing) אֶת־ (-) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH);

בְּ֝מִצְוֺתָ֗יו (who in His commandments) חָפֵ֥ץ (he has delighted) מְאֹֽד׃ (greatly).

2  גִּבּ֣וֹר (Mighty) בָּ֭אָרֶץ (in the land) יִהְיֶ֣ה (is) זַרְע֑וֹ (His seed);

דּ֭וֹר (the generation) יְשָׁרִ֣ים (of the upright) יְבֹרָֽךְ׃ (will be blessed).

3  הוֹן־ (Wealth) וָעֹ֥שֶׁר (and riches are) בְּבֵית֑וֹ (in his house),

וְ֝צִדְקָת֗וֹ (and his righteousness) עֹמֶ֥דֶת (stands) לָעַֽד׃ (forever).

4  זָ֘רַ֤ח (Has risen) בַּחֹ֣שֶׁךְ (in the darkness) א֭וֹר (light) לַיְשָׁרִ֑ים (for the upright)—

חַנּ֖וּן (for the gracious), וְרַח֣וּם (and compassionate), וְצַדִּֽיק׃ (and righteous).

5  טֽוֹב־ (The good) אִ֭ישׁ (man) חוֹנֵ֣ן (is gracious) וּמַלְוֶ֑ה (and lends freely);

יְכַלְכֵּ֖ל (he contains) דְּבָרָ֣יו (his affairs) בְּמִשְׁפָּֽט׃ (with justice).

6  כִּֽי־ (Surely) לְעוֹלָ֥ם (forever) לֹא־ (not) יִמּ֑וֹט (will he be shaken).

לְזֵ֥כֶר (As a memorial) ע֝וֹלָ֗ם (forever) יִהְיֶ֥ה (will be) צַדִּֽיק׃ (the righteous).

7  מִשְּׁמוּעָ֣ה (Of a report) רָ֭עָה (evil) לֹ֣א (not) יִירָ֑א (is he afraid);

נָכ֥וֹן (is firm) לִ֝בּ֗וֹ (his heart), בָּטֻ֥חַ (trusting) בַּיהוָֽה׃ (in YHWH).

8  סָמ֣וּךְ (Is upheld) לִ֭בּוֹ (his heart)— לֹ֣א (not) יִירָ֑א (he will be afraid),

עַ֖ד (until) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) יִרְאֶ֣ה (he looks) בְצָרָֽיו׃ (on his enemies).

9  פִּזַּ֤ר׀ (He has scattered), נָ֘תַ֤ן (he has given) לָאֶבְיוֹנִ֗ים (to the needy);

צִ֭דְקָתוֹ (his righteousness) עֹמֶ֣דֶת (stands) לָעַ֑ד (forever);

קַ֝רְנ֗וֹ (his horn) תָּר֥וּם (is raised high) בְּכָבֽוֹד׃ (in honor).

10  רָ֘שָׁ֤ע (A wicked one) יִרְאֶ֨ה׀ (will see) וְכָעָ֗ס (and be angry);

שִׁנָּ֣יו (his teeth) יַחֲרֹ֣ק (he will gnash) וְנָמָ֑ס (and melt away);

תַּאֲוַ֖ת (the desire) רְשָׁעִ֣ים (of the wicked ones) תֹּאבֵֽד׃ (will perish).
