Purification after Childbirth

1  וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר (And spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) מֹשֶׁ֥ה (Moses), לֵּאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2  דַּבֵּ֞ר (Speak) אֶל־ (to) בְּנֵ֤י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ (of Israel), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), אִשָּׁה֙ (A woman) כִּ֣י (that) תַזְרִ֔יעַ (conceives) וְיָלְדָ֖ה (and bears) זָכָ֑ר (a male child), וְטָֽמְאָה֙ (and she shall be unclean) שִׁבְעַ֣ת (seven) יָמִ֔ים (days); כִּימֵ֛י (as in the days) נִדַּ֥ת (of her menstruation) דְּוֺתָ֖הּ (of the uncleanness) תִּטְמָֽא׃ (she shall be unclean). 3  וּבַיּ֖וֹם (And on the day) הַשְּׁמִינִ֑י (the eigth) יִמּ֖וֹל (shall be circumcised) בְּשַׂ֥ר (the flesh) עָרְלָתֽוֹ׃ (of his foreskin).

4  וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים (And thirty) יוֹם֙ (days) וּשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת (and three) יָמִ֔ים (days) תֵּשֵׁ֖ב (she shall continue) בִּדְמֵ֣י (in the blood) טָהֳרָ֑ה (of her purification). בְּכָל־ (In any) קֹ֣דֶשׁ (holy thing) לֹֽא־ (not) תִגָּ֗ע (she shall touch), וְאֶל־ (and into) הַמִּקְדָּשׁ֙ (the sanctuary) לֹ֣א (not) תָבֹ֔א (come), עַד־ (until) מְלֹ֖את (are fulfilled) יְמֵ֥י (the days) טָהֳרָֽהּ׃ (of her purification).

5  וְאִם־ (And if) נְקֵבָ֣ה (a female child) תֵלֵ֔ד (she bears), וְטָמְאָ֥ה (and she shall be unclean) שְׁבֻעַ֖יִם (two weeks), כְּנִדָּתָ֑הּ (like her menstruation); וְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים (and sixty) יוֹם֙ (days) וְשֵׁ֣שֶׁת (and six) יָמִ֔ים (days) תֵּשֵׁ֖ב (she shall continue) עַל־ (in) דְּמֵ֥י (the blood) טָהֳרָֽה׃ (of her purification).

6  וּבִמְלֹ֣את׀ (And in the fulfilling) יְמֵ֣י (of the days) טָהֳרָ֗הּ (of her purification), לְבֵן֮ (for a son) א֣וֹ (or) לְבַת֒ (for a daughter), תָּבִ֞יא (she shall bring near) כֶּ֤בֶשׂ (a lamb) בֶּן־ (a son) שְׁנָתוֹ֙ (of a year) לְעֹלָ֔ה (for a burnt offering), וּבֶן־ (and a son) יוֹנָ֥ה (of a pigeon) אוֹ־ (or) תֹ֖ר (a turtledove) לְחַטָּ֑את (for a sin offering), אֶל־ (to) פֶּ֥תַח (the door) אֹֽהֶל־ (of the Tent) מוֹעֵ֖ד (of Meeting), אֶל־ (to) הַכֹּהֵֽן׃ (the priest). 7  וְהִקְרִיב֞וֹ (And he shall bring it near) לִפְנֵ֤י (before the face) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) וְכִפֶּ֣ר (and he shall make atonement) עָלֶ֔יהָ (upon her), וְטָהֲרָ֖ה (and she shall be clean) מִמְּקֹ֣ר (from the flow) דָּמֶ֑יהָ (of her blood). זֹ֤את (This) תּוֹרַת֙ (is the law) הַיֹּלֶ֔דֶת (of the one giving birth) לַזָּכָ֖ר (the male) א֥וֹ (or) לַנְּקֵבָֽה׃ (the female).

8  וְאִם־ (And if) לֹ֨א (not) תִמְצָ֣א (to bring) יָדָהּ֮ (her hand) דֵּ֣י (is able) שֶׂה֒ (a lamb), וְלָקְחָ֣ה (then she shall take) שְׁתֵּֽי־ (two) תֹרִ֗ים (turtledoves) א֤וֹ (or) שְׁנֵי֙ (two) בְּנֵ֣י (sons) יוֹנָ֔ה (of a pigeon), אֶחָ֥ד (one) לְעֹלָ֖ה (for a burnt offering) וְאֶחָ֣ד (and one) לְחַטָּ֑את (for a sin offering); וְכִפֶּ֥ר (and shall make atonement) עָלֶ֛יהָ (upon her) הַכֹּהֵ֖ן (the priest), וְטָהֵֽרָה׃פ (and she will be clean).
