Tribute to Ahasuerus and Mordecai

1  וַיָּשֶׂם֩ (And set) הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ (King) אֲחָשֵׁרֹשׁ (Ahasuerus) מַ֛ס (tribute) עַל־ (upon) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the land) וְאִיֵּ֥י (and the islands) הַיָּֽם׃ (of the sea).

2  וְכָל־ (And all) מַעֲשֵׂ֤ה (the work) תָקְפּוֹ֙ (of his power) וּגְב֣וּרָת֔וֹ (and his strength), וּפָרָשַׁת֙ (and the account) גְּדֻלַּ֣ת (of the greatness) מָרְדֳּכַ֔י (of Mordecai) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (by which) גִּדְּל֖וֹ (made him great) הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ (the king), הֲלוֹא־ (are not) הֵ֣ם (they) כְּתוּבִ֗ים (written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֙פֶר֙ (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֣י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֔ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֖י (of the Kings) מָדַ֥י (of Media) וּפָרָֽס׃ (and Persia)? 3  כִּ֣י׀ (For) מָרְדֳּכַ֣י (Mordecai) הַיְּהוּדִ֗י (the Jew) מִשְׁנֶה֙ (was second) לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ (to King) אֲחַשְׁוֵר֔וֹשׁ (Ahasuerus) וְגָדוֹל֙ (and great) לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים (among the Jews) וְרָצ֖וּי (and was favored) לְרֹ֣ב (by the multitude) אֶחָ֑יו (of his brothers), דֹּרֵ֥שׁ (seeking) טוֹב֙ (good) לְעַמּ֔וֹ (for his people) וְדֹבֵ֥ר (and speaking) שָׁל֖וֹם (peace) לְכָל־ (to all) זַרְעֽוֹ׃ (his seed).
