Job Loses his Health

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1On another day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them to present himself before him.1Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD.1Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the LORD.1Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.1One day the sons of God came again to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them to present himself before the LORD.
2And the LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it."2And the LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”2The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."2And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.2The LORD asked Satan, "Where have you come from?" "From roaming through the earth," Satan answered Him, "and walking around on it."
3Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason."3And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him without reason.”3The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause."3And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.3Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil. He still retains his integrity, even though you incited Me against him, to destroy him without just cause."
4"Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life.4Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life.4Satan answered the LORD and said, "Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.4And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.4"Skin for skin!" Satan answered the LORD. "A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life.

5But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face."5But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.”5"However, put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face."5But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.5But stretch out Your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse You to Your face."
6The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life."6And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life.”6So the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life."6And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.6"Very well," the LORD told Satan, "he is in your power; only spare his life."
7So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.7So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.7Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.7So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.7So Satan left the LORD's presence and infected Job with terrible boils from the sole of his foot to the top of his head.
8Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.8And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes.8And he took a potsherd to scrape himself while he was sitting among the ashes.8And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes.8Then Job took a piece of broken pottery to scrape himself while he sat among the ashes.
9His wife said to him, "Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!"9Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.”9Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!"9Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.9His wife said to him, "Do you still retain your integrity? Curse God and die!"
10He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.10But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.10But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.10But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.10"You speak as a foolish woman speaks," he told her. "Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?" Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said.

Job's Three Friends

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
11When Job's three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.11Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him.11Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they came each one from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite; and they made an appointment together to come to sympathize with him and comfort him.11Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.11Now when Job's three friends--Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite--heard about all this adversity that had happened to him, each of them came from his home. They met together to go and sympathize with him and comfort him.
12When they saw him from a distance, they could hardly recognize him; they began to weep aloud, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads.12And when they saw him from a distance, they did not recognize him. And they raised their voices and wept, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads toward heaven.12When they lifted up their eyes at a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.12And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.12When they looked from a distance, they could barely recognize him. They wept aloud, and each man tore his robe and threw dust into the air and on his head.
13Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was.13And they sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering was very great.13Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.13So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.13Then they sat on the ground with him seven days and nights, but no one spoke a word to him because they saw that his suffering was very intense.
