Immorality Rebuked
(Proverbs 5:1–23)

1It is commonly reported that there is lewdness among you, and such lewdness as is not named even amongst the heathens, that one should have his father's wife. 2And are ye puffed up, and have not rather grieved? that he who hath committed this fact might be expelled from among you?

3For I indeed, absent in body, but present in spirit, have already, as if I were present, judged him who hath wrought this wickedness: in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 4when ye are assembled together with my spirit, by the power, I say, 5of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your boasting is not good.

6Do ye not know that a little leaven leaveneth the whole mass? 7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new mass, without leaven. For our paschal lamb, even Christ, was slain for us. 8Wherefore let us keep the feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavening of sincerity and truth.

Expel the Immoral Brother

9I wrote to you in an epistle, not to associate with whoremongers: 10but I did not mean not at all with the whoremongers of this world, or the covetous, or rapacious, or idolaters: since ye must then go out of the world. 11But now I have written to you, not to associate with him, if any one, that is called a brother, be a whoremonger, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or rapacious; with such a one no not to eat. 12For what have I to do to judge those that are without? and do not ye judge those that are within? 13But those who are without, God judgeth: and therefore put away the wicked one from among you.
