Majesty of God

The majesty of God is often depicted in Scripture as His royal splendor and kingly authority. In Psalm 93:1 , it is declared, "The LORD reigns, He is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved." This verse emphasizes God's regal nature and His unshakeable rule over the cosmos.

Isaiah 6:1-3 provides a vivid portrayal of God's majesty through the prophet's vision: "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him stood seraphim, each having six wings... And they were calling out to one another: 'Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth.'" This passage highlights the overwhelming glory and holiness of God, underscoring His majestic presence.

Power of God

God's power is demonstrated through His creation, sustenance, and governance of the universe. Genesis 1:1 states, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." This foundational verse affirms God's omnipotence as the Creator, who spoke the universe into existence by His word.

The power of God is also evident in His ability to perform miracles and intervene in human history. In Exodus 15:6 , following the deliverance of Israel from Egypt, Moses and the Israelites sing, "Your right hand, O LORD, is majestic in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has shattered the enemy." This song celebrates God's mighty acts and His power to save His people.

In the New Testament, the power of God is manifested in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Romans 1:4 declares, "and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by His resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord." The resurrection is the ultimate demonstration of God's power over sin and death.

God's Sovereignty

God's majesty and power are inseparable from His sovereignty. He exercises complete control over all creation, as affirmed in Psalm 115:3 : "Our God is in heaven; He does as He pleases." This sovereignty is not arbitrary but is exercised with wisdom and justice, as seen in Daniel 4:35 : "All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back His hand or say to Him: 'What have You done?'"

Worship and Reverence

The recognition of God's majesty and power naturally leads to worship and reverence. Hebrews 12:28-29 exhorts believers, "Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire." This call to worship reflects the appropriate response to God's majestic and powerful nature.

In Revelation 4:11 , the heavenly hosts proclaim, "Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and came to be." This doxology encapsulates the eternal praise due to God for His majestic and powerful acts of creation and sustenance.
