Has a people ever heard the voice of GodIsrael’s gathering at Mount Sinai was without parallel among the nations. The Lord did not reveal Himself through myth, human speculation, or a distant oracle, but addressed the people He had redeemed from Egypt. Their hearing established the covenant relationship in which God claimed Israel as His treasured possession and called them to live as a holy nation. Deu 5:24-26 “Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory”… speaking out of the fire, Fire displayed the glorious holiness and fearful majesty of the Lord on Sinai. The mountain burned as God descended, yet the fire did not consume His covenant people. Moses had earlier encountered the Lord in the burning bush, where fire likewise revealed God’s holy presence and His purpose to deliver Israel.
