24 And when the messengers of Iohn were departed, he began to speake vnto the people concernyng Iohn: What went ye out into the wildernesse for to see? a reede shaken with the wynde? 25 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft rayment? Beholde, they which are gorgeously appareled, & lyue delicately, are in kynges courtes. 26 But what went ye foorth to see? A prophete? Yea, I say to you, and more then a prophete. 27 This is he, of whom it is written: Beholde, I sende my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 28 For I say vnto you, among womens chyldren, is there not a greater prophete then Iohn Baptist.
