Judges 14:1-6 ▼

1 And Samson went down to Timnah and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines.

2 And he went up and declared to his father and mother and said, “I have seen a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines. And now, get her for me as a wife.”

3 And his father and mother said to him, “Is there not among the daughters of your brothers, or among all my people, a woman, that you must go and get a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” And Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she is right in my eyes.”

4 (And his father and mother did not know that it was of YHWH, that He was seeking an occasion to move against the Philistines. And for that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.)

5 And Samson and his father and mother went down to Timnah, and they came to the vineyards of Timnah. And behold, a young lion of lions came roaring against him.

6 And the Spirit of YHWH came mightily upon him, and he tore it as the tearing of a young goat, and not anything was in his hand. He did not tell his father or his mother what he had done.
