1 I have told you these things that ye may not be discouraged. 2 they shall expel you out of the synagogues: yea, the time is coming, when it will be thought an agreeable sacrifice to God for any one to take away your lives. 3 and thus will they treat you, because they have not known the father, nor me. 4 but these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember what I now tell you. I did not tell you so much at the beginning, because, I was then to be with you. 5 but now I am going to him that sent me; yet none of you ask me now, whither are you going? 6 are your minds so overwhelm'd with sorrow at what I told you? 7 nevertheless, I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I do not go away, the advocate will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him to you. 8 and when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, of justice, of judgment: 9 of sin, because they believ'd not on me; 10 of justice, because I shall be with my father, and ye shall see me no more expos'd: 11 of judgment, because the prince of this world is condemn'd.
