1 At this time a man named Lazarus (God has helped) was sick. He lived in Bethany (house of affliction), the village of Mary (beloved) and her sister Martha (the lady). 2 (Mary (beloved), whose brother Lazarus (God has helped) was sick, was to anoint the Lord {Kyrion} with perfume and wipe His feet with her hair.) 3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord {Kyrie}, the one You love is sick. 4 When Jesus (YHWH saves) heard this, He said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for the glory {doxēs} of God {Theou}, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it. 5 Now Jesus (YHWH saves) loved {Ēgapa} Martha (the lady) and her sister and Lazarus (God has helped). 6 So on hearing that Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was for two days, 7 and then He said to the disciples (pupils), “Let us go back to Judea (land of praise). 8 “Rabbi, they replied, “the Jews (people of praise) just tried to stone You, and You are going back there?
