1 In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and laid siege against it. 2 And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the city was broken through. 3 And all the officials of the king of Babylon came in and sat in the Middle Gate: Of Nergal-sharezer of Samgar, Nebo-sarsekim the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, and all the rest of the officials of the king of Babylon. 4 And it came to pass when Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, that they fled and went out by night from the city by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate between the two walls; and he went out by way of the Arabah. 5 And the army of the Chaldeans pursued after them, and they overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And they seized him, and they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he spoke against him judgment. 6 And the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes; and also the king of Babylon killed all the nobles of Judah. 7 And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and he bound him with bronze fetters to bring him to Babylon.
