1 When Pashhur (freedom) the priest, the son of Immer (he has said) and the chief official in the house of the LORD {YHWH}, heard Jeremiah (whom YHWH has appointed) prophesying these things, 2 he (freedom) had Jeremiah (whom YHWH has appointed) the prophet beaten and put in the stocks at the Upper Gate of Benjamin (son of the right hand), which was by the house of the LORD {YHWH}.
