11 The princes of Zoan (place of departure) are mere fools; Pharaoh’s (great house) wise counselors give senseless advice. How can you⁺ say to Pharaoh, “I am one of the wise, a son of eastern kings”? 12 Where are your wise men now? Let them tell you and reveal what the LORD {YHWH} of Hosts has planned against Egypt (land of bondage). 13 The princes of Zoan (place of departure) have become fools; the princes of Memphis [Noph] are deceived. The cornerstones of her tribes have led Egypt (land of bondage) astray. 14 The LORD {YHWH} has poured into her a spirit {ruach} of confusion. Egypt (land of bondage) has been led astray in all she does, as a drunkard staggers through his own vomit. 15 There is nothing Egypt (land of bondage) can do—head or tail, palm or reed.
