1 Then Moses (drawn out) went up from the plains of Moab (of his father) to Mount Nebo (prophet), to the top of Pisgah (cleft), which faces Jericho (city of palms). And the LORD {YHWH} showed him the whole land—from Gilead (rocky region) as far as Dan (He has judged),

2 all of Naphtali (wrestling), the land of Ephraim (doubly fruitful) and Manasseh (causing to forget), all the land of Judah (praised) as far as the Western Sea (the Mediterranean Sea),

3 the Negev (southland), and the region from the Valley of Jericho (city of palms) (the City of Palms) all the way to Zoar (insignificance).

4 And the LORD {YHWH} said to him, “This is the land that I swore to give Abraham (father of many), Isaac (he laughs), and Jacob (he grasps the heel) when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you will not cross into it.”
