14 Jair (he enlightens), a descendant of Manasseh (causing to forget), took the whole region of Argob (heap of clods) as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites (she has pressed). He renamed Bashan (fruitful) after himself, Havvoth-jair (villages of Jair), by which it is called to this day.

15 To Machir (sold) I gave Gilead (rocky region),

17 The Jordan River (flowing down) in the Arabah bordered it from Chinnereth (harps) to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea (the Dead Sea) with the slopes of Pisgah (cleft) to the east.
