13 Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king. 14 Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, that you? are not giving service to my gods and not giving homage to the image of gold that I have set up? 15 Now, if you? are ready, at that time when you? hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, and pipe, and all kinds of music, then you? fall down and give homage to the image that I have made! And if you? will not give homage in it, immediately you? shall be cast into the midst of a burning furnace of fire—and who is the god who will deliver you? from my hands?” 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered, and said to the king: “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to answer you in this matter. 17 If our God, whom we serve, exists, He is able to deliver us from the burning furnace of fire. From your hand, O king, He will deliver us. 18 But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that to your gods we are not serving, and to the image of gold that you have set up we will not give homage.” 19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the image of his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. He spoke and commanded to heat the furnace seven times more than it is seen to be heated. 20 And to men mighty of valor who were in his army, he commanded to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, to cast them into the burning furnace of fire.
