1 I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the doorposts and the thresholds will shake, and break them on the head of them all, and the last of them I will kill with the sword. No one fleeing can flee from them, and no fugative will escape from them. 2 If they dig into Sheol, from there my hand will take them, and if they go up to the heavens, from there I will bring them down. 3 And if they hide themselves on the top of Carmel, from there I will search and will take them; and if they hide from My eyes at the bottom of the sea, from there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them! 4 And if they go into captivity before the face of their enemies, from there I will command the sword, and it will kill them; and I will set My eyes on them for harm and not for good!” 5 And the Lord YHWH of Hosts—the One touching the earth and it melts, and all those dwelling on it mourn, and all of it swells like the River, and it sinks like the River of Egypt, 6 the One building His upper chambers in the heaven, and having founded His vault upon the earth, the One calling to the waters of the sea, and He pours them out upon the face of the earth—YHWH is His name! 7 “Are you? not like the sons of the Cushites to Me, O sons of Israel?” An utterance of YHWH. “Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and Aram from Kir? 8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord YHWH are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth—except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob.” An utterance of YHWH. 9 “For behold, I am giving the command, and I will shake among all the nations the house of Israel, as it is shaken in a sieve, and not a pebble will fall to the ground.
