1 Woe to those at ease in Zion, and in Mount Samaria, leaders of the foremost of the nations; the house of Israel comes to them. 2 Cross over to Calneh and see, and go from there to Hamath the great, and go down to Gath of the Philistines—are you better than these kingdoms, or is their territory greater than your? territory— 3 who are putting away the day of disaster, and who cause to come near the seat of violence, 4 those laying down on beds of ivory and stretching out on their couches, and eating lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall, 5 those singing foolishly over the mouth of the harp, like David, devising for themselves all manner of song; 6 those drinking from bowls of wine, and with the finest ointments they anoint themselves—and they are not grieved over the breach of Joseph! 7 Therefore now they will be removed at the head of the captives, and will be turned aside the feasting and lounging.
