4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit {Hagiou Pneumatos} and began to speak in other tongues (languages) as the Spirit {Pneuma} enabled them. 5 Now there were dwelling (staying) in Jerusalem (city of peace) God-fearing Jews (people of praise) from every nation {ethnous} under heaven. 6 And when this sound rang out, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking his own language. 7 Astounded and amazed, they asked, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 How is it then that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes, and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea (land of praise) and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia (the Roman Province of Asia), 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt (land of bondage) and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome, 11 both Jews (people of praise) and converts to Judaism; Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God {Theou} in our own tongues (languages)! 12 Astounded and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean? 13 But others mocked them and said, “They are drunk on new wine!
