1 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became a vassal to him three years. And he turned and rebelled against him. 2 And YHWH sent against him bands of Chaldeans, and bands of Aram, and bands of Moabites, and bands of the sons of Ammon. And He sent them against Judah to destroy it according to the word of YHWH, which He had spoken by His servants the prophets. 3 Surely at the commandment of YHWH this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 and also of the innocent blood that he poured out. And he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and YHWH was not willing to forgive. 5 And the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Words of the Days of the Kings of Judah? 6 And Jehoiakim rested with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place. 7 And the king of Egypt added not anymore to go out of his land. For the king of Babylon had taken from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates all that belonged to the king of Egypt. 8 Jehoiachin was a son of eighteen years in his reigning, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Nehushta daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 2 Kings 24:1-8, Berean Literal Bible. Public domain.
