3 Just as I exhorted you to remain in Ephesus in my going to Macedonia, so that you might charge certain ones not to teach other doctrines 4 nor to give heed to myths and endless genealogies, which cause controversies rather than the stewardship of God that is in faith. 5 Now the goal of our charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith, 6 from which certain ones, having missed the mark, turned aside to empty talk, 7 wanting to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor that about which they confidently assert. 1 Timothy 1:3-7, Berean Literal Bible.
