1 My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin. And, if any one sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous. 2 And He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 3 And in this we know that we have known Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I have known Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whosoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected: in this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says that he is abiding in Him ought himself also to walk even as He walked. 7 Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but and old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye heard. 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. 1 John 2:1-8, Worrell New Testament.
