1 The sons of Issachar (there is recompense): Tola (worm), Puah (Puvah), Jashub (he will return), and Shimron (watch-height)—four in all. 2 The sons of Tola (worm): Uzzi (strong), Rephaiah (healed of YHWH), Jeriel (taught by God), Jahmai (whom YHWH guards), Ibsam (pleasant), and Shemuel (his name is El), the heads of their families. In the days of David (beloved), 22,600 descendants of Tola were numbered in their genealogies as mighty men of valor. 3 The son \sons/ of Uzzi (strong): Izrahiah (YHWH will shine). The sons of Izrahiah: Michael (who is like God), Obadiah (servant of YHWH), Joel (YHWH is God), and Isshiah (YHWH will lend). All five of them were chiefs. 4 In addition to them, according to their genealogy, they had 36,000 troops for battle, for they had many wives and children. 5 Their kinsmen belonging to all the families of Issachar (there is recompense) who were mighty men of valor totaled 87,000, as listed in their genealogies. 6 The three sons of Benjamin (son of the right hand): Bela (destruction), Becher (young camel), and Jediael (God makes known). 7 The sons of Bela (destruction): Ezbon (hastening to discern), Uzzi (strong), Uzziel (my strength is God), Jerimoth (He is Most High), and Iri (belonging to a city), heads of their families—five in all. There were 22,034 mighty men of valor listed in their genealogies. 8 The sons of Becher (young camel): Zemirah (song), Joash (YHWH hastens), Eliezer (God is my helper), Elioenai (unto YHWH are my eyes), Omri (pupil of YHWH), Jeremoth (He is Most High), Abijah (YHWH is my father), Anathoth (answers to prayer), and Alemeth (covering); all these were Becher’s sons. 9 Their genealogies were recorded according to the heads of their families—20,200 mighty men of valor. 10 The son of Jediael (God makes known): Bilhan (their decrepitude). The sons of Bilhan: Jeush (He hurries to aid), Benjamin (son of the right hand), Ehud (I will give thanks), Chenaanah (trader), Zethan (olive), Tarshish (yellow jasper), and Ahishahar (brother of the dawn). 11 All these sons of Jediael (God makes known) were heads of their families, mighty men of valor; there were 17,200 fit for battle. 12 The Shuppites (serpents) and Huppites (protected) were descendants of Ir (belonging to a city), and the Hushites (who makes haste) were descendants of Aher (following). 13 The sons of Naphtali (wrestling): Jahziel (Jahzeel), Guni, Jezer (forming), and Shallum [Shillem] the descendants of Bilhah (troubled). 14 The descendants of Manasseh (causing to forget): Asriel (I shall be prince of God) through his Aramean (exalted) concubine. She also gave birth to Machir (sold) the father of Gilead (rocky region). 15 Machir (sold) took a wife from among the Huppites (protected) and Shuppites (serpents).
