1 And it came to pass after this that David struck the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its daughters from the hand of the Philistines. 2 And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants of David, bringing tribute. 3 And David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah as far as Hamath in his going to establish his hand by the river Euphrates. 4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand soldiers on foot, and David hamstrung all the chariots and left of them a hundred chariots. 5 And the Aramaeans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, and David struck down twenty-two thousand men of Aram. 6 And David placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and Aram became servants of David, bearing tribute, and YHWH preserved David in all to which he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and he brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Tibhath and from Chun, cities of Hadadezer, David brought a large amount of bronze with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, and the pillars, and the articles of bronze. 9 And Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, 10 and he sent Hadoram his son to King David to ask of him peace and to bless him, upon that he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him. For Hadadezer had been a man at war with Tou, and he had all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze. 1 Chronicles 18:1-10, Berean Literal Bible. Public domain.
