1 And Huram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and craftsmen of walls, and craftsmen of wood, to build for him a house. 2 And David knew that YHWH had established him as king over Israel, for was exalted highly his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel. 3 And David took more wives in Jerusalem, and David begat more sons and daughters. 4 And these are the names of the children who were unto him in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, 5 and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet, 6 and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia, 7 and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet. 8 And the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, and all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went out before them. 9 And the Philistines went and made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim. 10 And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines, and have You given them into my hand?” And YHWH said to him, “Go up, and I have given into your hand.” 11 And they went up to Baal-perazim, and David defeated them there. And David said, “God has broken up my enemies by my hand like the breaking up of waters.” Upon thus they called the name of that place Baal-perazim. 12 And they left their gods there, and David gave a commandment, and they were burned with the fire. 13 And the Philistines added again to make a raid on the valley. 14 And David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them. Circle around them and come upon them in front of the balsam trees. 15 And it shall be, when you hear the sound of a marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” 1 Chronicles 14:1-15, Berean Literal Bible.
