[A psalm by Asaph.] God takes his place in his own assembly. He pronounces judgment among the gods: God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: A psalm of Asaph. God presides in the great assembly; he renders judgment among the “gods|:
|How long are you going to judge unfairly? How long are you going to side with wicked people?| [Selah] “How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah “How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?
Defend weak people and orphans. Protect the rights of the oppressed and the poor. Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue weak and needy people. Help them escape the power of wicked people. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Wicked people do not know or understand anything. As they walk around in the dark, all the foundations of the earth shake. They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken. “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
I said, |You are gods. You are all sons of the Most High. I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; “I said, ‘You are “gods|; you are all sons of the Most High.’
You will certainly die like humans and fall like any prince.| nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.”
Arise, O God! Judge the earth, because all the nations belong to you. Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations! Rise up, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are your inheritance.
