For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waiteth only upon God: from him cometh my salvation. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my high tower; I shall not be greatly moved. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
How long will ye set upon a man, that ye may slay him, all of you, like a bowing wall, like a tottering fence? How long will all of you attack a man to batter him, like a leaning wall, a tottering fence? How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
They only consult to thrust him down from his excellency; they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah They only plan to thrust him down from his high position. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my high tower; I shall not be moved. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
With God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, ye people; pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: in the balances they will go up; they are together lighter than vanity. Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart thereon. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
God hath spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God: Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work. and with you, Lord, is unfailing love|; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”
