For the choir director. A psalm of David, when the prophet Nathan came to him after he had gone to Bathsheba. ”8224; Be gracious to me, God, according to your faithful love; according to your abundant compassion, blot out my rebellion. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions.
Completely wash away my guilt and cleanse me from my sin. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
For I am conscious of my rebellion, and my sin is always before me. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
Against you—you alone—I have sinned and done this evil in your sight. So you are right when you pass sentence; you are blameless when you judge. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge.
Indeed, I was guilty when I was born; I was sinful when my mother conceived me. Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Surely you desire integrity in the inner self, and you teach me wisdom deep within. Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart. Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
Turn your face away from my sins and blot out all my guilt. Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.
God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and sustain me by giving me a willing spirit. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Then I will teach the rebellious your ways, and sinners will return to you. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you.
Save me from the guilt of bloodshed, God — God of my salvation — and my tongue will sing of your righteousness. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, you who are God my Savior, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. Open my lips, Lord, and my mouth will declare your praise.
You do not want a sacrifice, or I would give it; you are not pleased with a burnt offering. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. You will not despise a broken and humbled heart, God. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.
In your good pleasure, cause Zion to prosper; build the walls of Jerusalem. Do good to Zion in your good pleasure; build up the walls of Jerusalem; May it please you to prosper Zion, to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
Then you will delight in righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar. then will you delight in right sacrifices, in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on your altar. Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole; then bulls will be offered on your altar.
