Judge me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation. Rescue me from deceitful and unjust people. Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked.
You are my fortress, O God! Why have you rejected me? Why must I walk around in mourning while the enemy oppresses me? For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?
Send your light and your truth. Let them guide me. Let them bring me to your holy mountain and to your dwelling place. Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.
Then let me go to the altar of God, to God my [highest] joy, and I will give thanks to you on the lyre, O God, my God. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
Why are you discouraged, my soul? Why are you so restless? Put your hope in God, because I will still praise him. He is my savior and my God. Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God. Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
