1 Hallelujah! Praise the LORD, my soul! Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, my soul.
2 I will praise the LORD as long as I live, singing praises to my God while I exist. I will praise the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
3 Do not look to nobles, nor to mere human beings who cannot save. Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.
4 When they stop breathing, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans evaporate! When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

9 The LORD stands guard over the stranger; he supports both widows and orphans, but makes the path of the wicked slippery. The LORD watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
