When the lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted. When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. A song of ascents. When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.
Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”
The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful. The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad. The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south. Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negeb! Restore our fortunes, LORD, like streams in the Negev.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.
Going they went and wept, casting their seeds. But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves. He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
