A SONG OF THE ASCENTS. Those trusting in YHWH [are] as Mount Zion, || It is not moved—it abides for all time. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. A song of ascents. Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
Jerusalem! Mountains [are] around her, || And YHWH [is] around His people, || From now on—even for all time. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.
For the rod of wickedness does not rest on the lot of the righteous, || That the righteous do not put forth their hands on iniquity. For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous stretch out their hands to do wrong. The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.
Do good, O YHWH, to the good, || And to the upright in their hearts. Do good, O LORD, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts! LORD, do good to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart.
As for those turning [to] their crooked ways, || YHWH causes them to go with workers of iniquity. Peace on Israel! But those who turn aside to their crooked ways the LORD will lead away with evildoers! Peace be upon Israel! But those who turn to crooked ways the LORD will banish with the evildoers. Peace be on Israel.
