47 Καὶ ὀψίας γενομένης ἦν τὸ πλοῖον ἐν μέσῳ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ αὐτὸς μόνος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land.
48 καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτοὺς βασανιζομένους ἐν τῷ ἐλαύνειν ἦν γὰρ ἄνεμος ἐναντίος αὐτοῖς περὶ τετάρτην φυλακὴν τῆς νυκτὸς ἔρχεται πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης καὶ ἤθελεν παρελθεῖν αὐτούς And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them.
