Take ye heed, watch and pray. For ye know not when the time is. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.
Even as a man who going into a far country, left his house; and gave authority to his servants over every work, and commanded the porter to watch. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.
Watch ye therefor, (for you know not when the lord of the house cometh: at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning,) Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning— “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.
Lest coming on a sudden, he find you sleeping. lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping.
And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’”
