He answered them, |What did Moses command you?| He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” “What did Moses command you?” he replied.
They said, |Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.| They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”
But Jesus said to them, |He wrote this commandment for you because of your hard hearts. And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.
But from the beginning of creation he made them male and female. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,
and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh.
