1	Now the LORD spoke to Moses after the death of two of Aaron’s sons when they approached the presence of the LORD. 2	And the LORD said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron not to enter freely into the Most Holy Place behind the veil in front of the mercy seat on the ark, or else he will die, because I appear in the cloud above the mercy seat.	and the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat that is on the ark, so that he may not die. For I will appear in the cloud over the mercy seat.	And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy <i>place</i> within the vail before the mercy seat, which <i>is</i> upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.	The LORD said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he shall not enter at any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the atoning cover which is on the ark, or he will die; for I will appear in the cloud over the atoning cover.	The LORD said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he chooses into the Most Holy Place behind the curtain in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or else he will die. For I will appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.
3	This is how Aaron is to enter the Holy Place: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.	But in this way Aaron shall come into the Holy Place: with a bull from the herd for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.	Thus shall Aaron come into the holy <i>place</i>: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.	Aaron shall enter the Holy Place with this: with a bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering.	“This is how Aaron is to enter the Most Holy Place: He must first bring a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.
4	He is to wear the sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments. He must tie a linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are holy garments, and he must bathe himself with water before he wears them.	He shall put on the holy linen coat and shall have the linen undergarment on his body, and he shall tie the linen sash around his waist, and wear the linen turban; these are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water and then put them on.	He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these <i>are</i> holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and <i>so</i> put them on.	He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and the linen undergarments shall be next to his body, and he shall be wrapped about the waist with the linen sash and the linen turban wound around <i>his forehead</i> (these are holy garments). He shall bathe his body in water and put them on.	He is to put on the sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments next to his body; he is to tie the linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are sacred garments; so he must bathe himself with water before he puts them on.
5	And he shall take from the congregation of Israel two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering.	And he shall take from the congregation of the people of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.	And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.	And he shall take from the congregation of the sons of Israel two male goats as a sin offering, and one ram as a burnt offering.	From the Israelite community he is to take two male goats for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.
6	Aaron is to present the bull for his sin offering and make atonement for himself and his household.	“Aaron shall offer the bull as a sin offering for himself and shall make atonement for himself and for his house.	And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which <i>is</i> for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.	Then Aaron shall offer the bull as the sin offering, which is for himself, so that he may make atonement for himself and for his household.	“Aaron is to offer the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household.
7	Then he shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.	Then he shall take the two goats and set them before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting.	And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD <i>at</i> the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.	He shall then take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the doorway of the tent of meeting.	Then he is to take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
8	After Aaron casts lots for the two goats, one for the LORD and the other for the scapegoat,	And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for Azazel.	And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.	Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the scapegoat.	He is to cast lots for the two goats—one lot for the LORD and the other for the scapegoat.
9	he shall present the goat chosen by lot for the LORD and sacrifice it as a sin offering.	And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the LORD and use it as a sin offering,	And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him <i>for</i> a sin offering.	Then Aaron shall offer the goat on which the lot for the LORD fell, and make it a sin offering.	Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the LORD and sacrifice it for a sin offering.
10	But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement by sending it into the wilderness as the scapegoat.	but the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to Azazel.	But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, <i>and</i> to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.	But the goat on which the lot for the scapegoat fell shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make atonement upon it, to send it into the wilderness as the scapegoat.	But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the LORD to be used for making atonement by sending it into the wilderness as a scapegoat.
11	When Aaron presents the bull for his sin offering and makes atonement for himself and his household, he is to slaughter the bull for his own sin offering.	“Aaron shall present the bull as a sin offering for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house. He shall kill the bull as a sin offering for himself.	And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which <i>is</i> for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which <i>is</i> for himself:	“Then Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering which is for himself and make atonement for himself and for his household, and he shall slaughter the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.	“Aaron shall bring the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household, and he is to slaughter the bull for his own sin offering.
12	Then he must take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense, and take them inside the veil.	And he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and he shall bring it inside the veil	And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring <i>it</i> within the vail:	He shall take a firepan full of coals of fire from upon the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground sweet incense, and bring <i>it</i> inside the veil.	He is to take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense and take them behind the curtain.
13	He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the cloud of incense will cover the mercy seat above the Testimony, so that he will not die.	and put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is over the testimony, so that he does not die.	And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that <i>is</i> upon the testimony, that he die not:	He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, so that the cloud of incense may cover the atoning cover that is on <i>the ark of</i> the testimony, otherwise he will die.	He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die.
14	And he is to take some of the bull’s blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the mercy seat; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the mercy seat.	And he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the front of the mercy seat on the east side, and in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.	And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle <i>it</i> with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.	Moreover, he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle <i>it</i> with his finger on the atoning cover on the east <i>side;</i> also in front of the atoning cover he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.	He is to take some of the bull’s blood and with his finger sprinkle it on the front of the atonement cover; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the atonement cover.
15	Aaron shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and bring its blood behind the veil, and with its blood he must do as he did with the bull’s blood: He is to sprinkle it against the mercy seat and in front of it.	“Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, sprinkling it over the mercy seat and in front of the mercy seat.	Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that <i>is</i> for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:	“Then he shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering, which is for the people, and bring its blood inside the veil and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the atoning cover and in front of the atoning cover.	“He shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and take its blood behind the curtain and do with it as he did with the bull’s blood: He shall sprinkle it on the atonement cover and in front of it.
16	So he shall make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the impurities and rebellious acts of the Israelites in regard to all their sins. He is to do the same for the Tent of Meeting which abides among them, because it is surrounded by their impurities.	Thus he shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleannesses of the people of Israel and because of their transgressions, all their sins. And so he shall do for the tent of meeting, which dwells with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.	And he shall make an atonement for the holy <i>place</i>, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.	He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the impurities of the sons of Israel and because of their unlawful acts regarding all their sins; and he shall do so for the tent of meeting which remains with them in the midst of their impurities.	In this way he will make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites, whatever their sins have been. He is to do the same for the tent of meeting, which is among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
17	No one may be in the Tent of Meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he leaves, after he has made atonement for himself, his household, and the whole assembly of Israel.	No one may be in the tent of meeting from the time he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place until he comes out and has made atonement for himself and for his house and for all the assembly of Israel.	And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy <i>place</i>, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.	When he goes in to make atonement in the Holy Place, no one shall be in the tent of meeting until he comes out, so that he may make atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.	No one is to be in the tent of meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, his household and the whole community of Israel.
18	Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it. He is to take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on all the horns of the altar.	Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar all around.	And he shall go out unto the altar that <i>is</i> before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put <i>it</i> upon the horns of the altar round about.	Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it; he shall take some of the blood from the bull and <i>some</i> of the blood from the goat, and put it on the horns of the altar on all sides.	“Then he shall come out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it. He shall take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on all the horns of the altar.
19	He is to sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.	And he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it and consecrate it from the uncleannesses of the people of Israel.	And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.	With his finger he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it seven times and cleanse it, and consecrate it from the impurities of the sons of Israel.	He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and to consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites.
20	When Aaron has finished purifying the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he is to bring forward the live goat.	“And when he has made an end of atoning for the Holy Place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall present the live goat.	And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy <i>place</i>, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:	“When he finishes atoning for the Holy Place and the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall offer the live goat.	“When Aaron has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall bring forward the live goat.
21	Then he is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and rebellious acts of the Israelites in regard to all their sins. He is to put them on the goat’s head and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man appointed for the task.	And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.	And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send <i>him</i> away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:	Then Aaron shall lay both of his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the wrongdoings of the sons of Israel and all their unlawful acts regarding all their sins; and he shall place them on the head of the goat and send <i>it</i> away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who <i>stands</i> ready.	He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites—all their sins—and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task.
22	The goat will carry on itself all their iniquities into a solitary place, and the man will release it into the wilderness.	The goat shall bear all their iniquities on itself to a remote area, and he shall let the goat go free in the wilderness.	And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.	Then the goat shall carry on itself all their wrongdoings to an isolated territory; he shall release the goat in the wilderness.	The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place; and the man shall release it in the wilderness.
23	Then Aaron is to enter the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen garments he put on before entering the Most Holy Place, and leave them there.	“Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and shall take off the linen garments that he put on when he went into the Holy Place and shall leave them there.	And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy <i>place</i>, and shall leave them there:	“Then Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting and take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.	“Then Aaron is to go into the tent of meeting and take off the linen garments he put on before he entered the Most Holy Place, and he is to leave them there.
24	He is to bathe himself with water in a holy place and put on his own clothes. Then he must go out and sacrifice his burnt offering and the people’s burnt offering to make atonement for himself and for the people.	And he shall bathe his body in water in a holy place and put on his garments and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people and make atonement for himself and for the people.	And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.	And he shall bathe his body with water in a holy place and put on his clothes, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.	He shall bathe himself with water in the sanctuary area and put on his regular garments. Then he shall come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself and the burnt offering for the people, to make atonement for himself and for the people.
25	He is also to burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.	And the fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.	And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.	Then he shall offer up in smoke the fat of the sin offering on the altar.	He shall also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.
26	The man who released the goat as the scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may reenter the camp.	And he who lets the goat go to Azazel shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp.	And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.	The one who released the goat as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes and bathe his body with water; then afterward he shall come into the camp.	“The man who releases the goat as a scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp.
27	The bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make atonement, must be taken outside the camp; and their hides, flesh, and dung must be burned up.	And the bull for the sin offering and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp. Their skin and their flesh and their dung shall be burned up with fire.	And the bullock <i>for</i> the sin offering, and the goat <i>for</i> the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy <i>place</i>, shall <i>one</i> carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.	But the bull of the sin offering and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be taken outside the camp, and they shall burn their hides, their flesh, and their refuse in the fire.	The bull and the goat for the sin offerings, whose blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make atonement, must be taken outside the camp; their hides, flesh and intestines are to be burned up.
28	The one who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water, and afterward he may reenter the camp.	And he who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may come into the camp.	And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.	Then the one who burns them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body with water; and afterward he shall come into the camp.	The man who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp.
29	This is to be a permanent statute for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month, you shall humble yourselves and not do any work— whether the native or the foreigner who resides among you—	“And it shall be a statute to you forever that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict yourselves and shall do no work, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you.	And <i>this</i> shall be a statute for ever unto you: <i>that</i> in the seventh month, on the tenth <i>day</i> of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, <i>whether it be</i> one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:	“<i>This</i> shall be a permanent statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble yourselves and not do any work, whether the native, or the stranger who resides among you;	“This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves and not do any work—whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you—
30	because on this day atonement will be made for you to cleanse you, and you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD.	For on this day shall atonement be made for you to cleanse you. You shall be clean before the LORD from all your sins.	For on that day shall <i>the priest</i> make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, <i>that</i> ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD.	for it is on this day that atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you; you will be clean from all your sins before the LORD.	because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. Then, before the LORD, you will be clean from all your sins.
31	It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, that you may humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.	It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict yourselves; it is a statute forever.	It <i>shall be</i> a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.	It is to be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, so that you may humble yourselves; it is a permanent statute.	It is a day of sabbath rest, and you must deny yourselves; it is a lasting ordinance.
32	The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest shall make atonement. He will put on the sacred linen garments	And the priest who is anointed and consecrated as priest in his father’s place shall make atonement, wearing the holy linen garments.	And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, <i>even</i> the holy garments:	So the priest who is anointed and ordained to serve as priest in his father’s place shall make atonement: he shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments,	The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest is to make atonement. He is to put on the sacred linen garments
33	and make atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, and for the priests and all the people of the assembly.	He shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.	And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.	and make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar. He shall also make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.	and make atonement for the Most Holy Place, for the tent of meeting and the altar, and for the priests and all the members of the community.
34	This is to be a permanent statute for you, to make atonement once a year for the Israelites because of all their sins.” And all this was done as the LORD had commanded Moses.	And this shall be a statute forever for you, that atonement may be made for the people of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” And Aaron did as the LORD commanded Moses.	And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.	Now you shall have this as a permanent statute, to make atonement for the sons of Israel for all their sins once every year.” And just as the LORD had commanded Moses, <i>so</i> he did.	“This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: Atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites.” And it was done, as the LORD commanded Moses.
