1 Come now, you rich people, weep and wail over the miseries that are coming on you. Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.
2 Your wealth has rotted and your clothes are moth-eaten. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.
3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have stored up treasure in the last days. 5 You have lived luxuriously on the earth and have indulged yourselves. You have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in self-indulgence. 7 Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord’s coming.
