1 Now these are the children of the province, that went out of the captivity, which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon had carried away to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Juda, every man to his city. Now these were the people of the province who came up out of the captivity of those exiles whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried captive to Babylonia. 61 And of the children of the priests: the children of Hobia, the children of Accos, the children of Berzellai, who took a wife of the daughters of Berzellai, the Galaadite, and was called by their name: Also, of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, and the sons of Barzillai (who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name). And from among the priests: The descendants of Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).
62 These sought the writing of their genealogy, and found it not, and they were cast out of the priesthood. These sought their registration among those enrolled in the genealogies, but they were not found there, and so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
63 And Athersatha said to them, that they should not eat of the holy of holies, till there arose a priest learned and perfect. The governor told them that they were not to partake of the most holy food, until there should be a priest to consult Urim and Thummim. The governor ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there was a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.
64 All the multitudes as one man, were forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty: The whole assembly together was 42,360, The whole company numbered 42,360,
65 Besides their menservants, and womenservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven : and among them singing men, and singing women two hundred. besides their male and female servants, of whom there were 7,337, and they had 200 male and female singers. besides their 7,337 male and female slaves; and they also had 200 male and female singers.
66 Their horses seven hundred thirty- six, their mules two hundred forty-five, Their horses were 736, their mules were 245, They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
67 Their camels four hundred thirty-five, their asses six thousand seven hundred and twenty. their camels were 435, and their donkeys were 6,720. 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.
68 And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, offered freely to the house of the Lord to build it in its place. Some of the heads of families, when they came to the house of the LORD that is in Jerusalem, made freewill offerings for the house of God, to erect it on its site. When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site.
69 According to their ability, they gave towards the expenses of the work, sixty- one thousand solids of gold, five thousand pounds of silver, and a hundred garments for the priests. According to their ability they gave to the treasury of the work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priests’ garments. 70 So the priests and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singing men, and the porters, and the Nathinites dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities. Now the priests, the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their towns, and all the rest of Israel in their towns. The priests, the Levites, the musicians, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
