1 Now these are the sons of the province, who ascended from the captivity, whom Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had transferred to Babylon, and who were returned to Jerusalem and to Judah, each one to his own city. 61 And from the sons of the priests: the sons of Hobaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife from the daughters of Barzillai, the Gileadite, and who were called by their name. Also, of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, and the sons of Barzillai (who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name). And from among the priests: The descendants of Hobaiah, Hakkoz and Barzillai (a man who had married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by that name).
62 These sought the writing of their genealogy, and they did not find it, and so they were cast out of the priesthood. These sought their registration among those enrolled in the genealogies, but they were not found there, and so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. These searched for their family records, but they could not find them and so were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
63 And the cupbearer said to them that they should not eat from the Holy of Holies, until there would arise a priest, learned and perfect. The governor told them that they were not to partake of the most holy food, until there should be a priest to consult Urim and Thummim. The governor ordered them not to eat any of the most sacred food until there was a priest ministering with the Urim and Thummim.
64 The entire multitude joined together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty, The whole assembly together was 42,360, The whole company numbered 42,360,
65 not including their men and women servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And among these were singing men and singing women, two hundred. besides their male and female servants, of whom there were 7,337, and they had 200 male and female singers. besides their 7,337 male and female slaves; and they also had 200 male and female singers.
66 Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules were two hundred forty-five; Their horses were 736, their mules were 245, They had 736 horses, 245 mules,
67 their camels were four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys were six thousand seven hundred twenty. their camels were 435, and their donkeys were 6,720. 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys.
68 And some of the leaders among the fathers, when they entered into the temple of the Lord, which is in Jerusalem, freely offered some of these to the house of God, in order to construct it in its location. Some of the heads of families, when they came to the house of the LORD that is in Jerusalem, made freewill offerings for the house of God, to erect it on its site. When they arrived at the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the families gave freewill offerings toward the rebuilding of the house of God on its site.
69 They gave to the expenses of the work in accord with their ability: sixty-one thousand gold coins, five thousand silver minas, and one hundred priestly vestments. According to their ability they gave to the treasury of the work 61,000 darics of gold, 5,000 minas of silver, and 100 priests’ garments. 70 Therefore, the priests and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singing men, and the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their cities, and all of Israel lived in their cities. Now the priests, the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants lived in their towns, and all the rest of Israel in their towns. The priests, the Levites, the musicians, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.
