| 16 | Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego answered, and said to the king: “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to answer you in this matter. | Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. | Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. | |
| 17 | If our God, whom we serve, exists, He is able to deliver us from the burning furnace of fire. From your hand, O king, He will deliver us. | If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. | If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. | |
| 18 | But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that to your gods we are not serving, and to the image of gold that you have set up we will not give homage.” | But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” | But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” | |
